1、 Standard positioning
When the wristband involves heart rate/blood oxygen red green light, infrared LED, screen light, indicator light or charging light, it is usually evaluated for light radiation safety according to GB/T 41265-2022 "Light Radiation Safety Requirements for Wearable Devices"; This standard is a recommended national standard and is often used in practice in the form of third-party testing reports/compliance assessments, rather than mandatory CCC certifications.
2、 Applicable judgment
Standard coverage for wearable devices emitting incoherent light between 200 nm and 3000 nm; Bracelets generally belong to "skin contact devices", but if they include a display screen, heart rate/blood oxygen monitoring, infrared ranging, or indicator lights, the corresponding light emission path needs to be evaluated. Not suitable for use by children under 2 years old and people with sensitive skin to light; If the product claims to be for medical diagnostic purposes, a separate judgment should be made on whether it triggers medical device requirements.
3、 Testing basis
The detection method is usually accompanied by GB/T 42750-2023 "Measurement Methods for Optical Radiation Safety of Wearable Devices", forming a combination of "measurement methods+safety requirements/grading"; The report should specify both standards and their version year numbers simultaneously.
4、 Core measurement object
Focus on measuring the "reachable emission" instead of just looking at the nominal value of the light bulb: including the output differences of sensors on the side of the wristband, visible/blue light related components on the screen, status lights, infrared or near-infrared radiation, constant light/wrist lift/measurement/charging modes. Pulse light sources should pay attention to peak values and duty cycles; Continuous light sources should pay attention to accumulated radiation exposure during long-term wear.
5、 Typical testing items
Common projects include assessment of optical radiation power/irradiance, spectral distribution, radiance or apparent light source, assessment of retinal blue light and thermal hazards, UV hazard assessment, infrared thermal/infrared radiation assessment, flicker or flicker effects, and validation of the most unfavorable working mode; For skin contact on the wristband side, it is necessary to verify the sensor attachment distance, shading structure, wearing posture, and long-term working temperature rise/light output stability.
6、 Judgment logic
The results are expressed by hazard category: exemption RG0, low-risk RG1, medium risk RG2, high-risk RG3; RG2 relies more on human avoidance reactions, while RG3 may pose risks in foreseeable use. The qualification judgment is not just about writing "passed", but also about explaining the level and corresponding limit conclusions of each luminous path at the expected distance, usage duration, and working mode.
7、 Samples and testing conditions
The testing should cover the differences in sales models and light source configurations; Test selection of the most unfavorable combination: highest brightness, longest lighting time, continuous sensor operation, constant charging breathing light, abnormal close/offset wearing, etc. If the light transmission of the multi color shell is different, multiple watch straps affect the fit, and multiple firmware power levels are different, it is necessary to indicate whether they are covered by the same family or tested separately.
8、 Common nonconformities
Common issues include heart rate/blood oxygen LED peak over matching, infrared proximity sensor working distance too close, insufficient AOD constant light screen blue/flicker evaluation, indicator light without usage scenario restrictions, charging status accidentally triggered long on, and inconsistent instruction manual warning and actual measurement mode. The usual direction of rectification is to limit current and reduce power, shorten default lighting time, close proximity sensing screen out, optimize shading/light guiding structure, limit continuous operation of firmware, and supplement usage restrictions in labels and instructions.
9、 Report and Information
Prepare product specifications, light source/LED specifications, circuit driver instructions, working mode instructions, user manuals, label samples, and explained/structured fit instructions before commissioning; The report should reflect the standard number, sample information, traceability of testing equipment, measurement distance and receiving angle, worst-case mode, RG conclusion, and measurement uncertainty. The cycle often varies with the number of light source paths and the number of rectification rounds. A simple wristband with complete information can take several working days to two weeks, while multi-mode or retesting may take longer.
