Leveraging our core and differentiated strengths, we provide you with high-quality, comprehensive technology services
More
We provide professional optical product testing services (laser product safety testing and performance parameter testing, photobiological safety testing for non‑laser products), as well as energy efficiency testing services (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency testing, California CEC energy efficiency testing), among others.
If you have requirements for laser products (laser product safety testing and laser performance parameter testing) and energy efficiency testing (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency, California CEC energy efficiency, UK energy efficiency testing), please feel free to email us at: admin@ctnt-cert.com
1. Applicable regulatory framework
Smartphones in the EU market are required to comply with the ErP Directive 2009/125/EC and its implementing regulations, mainly related to (EU)
2019/424 (energy efficiency labeling requirements for mobile devices, cordless phones, and tablets).
2. Definition of Product Scope
Smartphones with voice and data communication capabilities
Screen diagonal size ≥ 4.0 inches
Usually includes battery and charging function
Excluding: Equipment used solely for industrial, commercial, or military purposes
3. Energy efficiency label requirements
Must register and generate an EU Energy Label
The label should display the energy efficiency level (A to G)
The label must be provided with the product and displayed on the online sales page
The energy efficiency level is evaluated based on indicators such as battery life and charging efficiency
4. EPREL database registration
Complete product registration in EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labeling)
Obtain a unique registration number
Upload product technical documents and energy efficiency test reports
Registration information should include: manufacturer information, model, energy efficiency parameters, testing standards, etc
5. Compliance assessment procedure
Conduct energy efficiency testing according to the testing methods in Appendix (EU) 2019/424
Internal production control (Module A) or EU type inspection (Module B+C) can be used
Establish and maintain technical files
6. Ecological design requirements
Battery durability requirements (number of cycles of charging)
Maintainability requirements (spare parts supply period)
Software update support period
Unified requirements for charging interface (USB-C)
7. Identification and Information Requirements
Label the energy efficiency level on the product body or packaging
The accompanying manual should include energy efficiency related information
When selling online, the energy efficiency label must be displayed at the first display point
8. Market supervision and compliance
Market supervision agencies of EU member states have the right to inspect
Non compliant products may face delisting, recall, or punishment
Technical documents must be retained for at least 10 years
9. Overview of Registration Process
Confirm whether the product is within the regulatory scope
Conduct energy efficiency testing and issue a report
Create an account and register products in the EPREL system
Generate and download energy efficiency labels
Apply labels to products and sales materials
Continuously update product information (if there are any changes)
