1、 Explanation of the Scope of Application of the Standard
GB/T 7247.1 is a general basic standard for radiation safety of laser products. The laser methane telemetry instrument is certified according to this
standard, and the core assessment equipment is the human eye safety level of the laser emission module. It is suitable for various types of laser
telemetry methane equipment such as fixed, handheld, portable, and vehicle mounted. The certification is only for the laser radiation safety dimension,
and the explosion-proof and metering of supporting equipment need to correspond to gas instruments and explosion-proof standards separately.
2、 Preparation of pre certification documents
Product basic information
Product overall drawing, laser emission light path structure diagram, laser light source specification book, complete machine model specification list,
and explanation of differences between different configuration versions.
Safety identification document
The whole machine nameplate drawing, laser hazard warning label pattern, and operation manual should be marked with laser hazard warning, safety
operation specifications, and instructions prohibiting direct viewing of the beam.
Electrical and component data
Original factory inspection report of laser, schematic diagram of power drive circuit, parameters of current limiting/shading protection components,
battery specifications (portable version).
Enterprise qualification documents
Manufacturer's business license, production site description, quality control system documents, and product self inspection procedures.
3、 Type test and inspection items (GB/T 7247.1 special)
1. Detection of laser output radiation parameters
Measure the output power, single pulse energy, beam divergence angle, and operating wavelength of the laser beam under the working state of the
equipment; Classify laser safety levels based on measured radiation values.
2. Verification of touchable radiation limits
Simulate the working conditions of the human body and human eyes in close proximity to the emission window, and detect the laser radiation dose
that the human body can come into contact with under normal use and minor equipment malfunctions, which must not exceed the safety threshold
specified by the standard.
3. Laser protection structure inspection
Physical shielding structure of the emission window, optical path limiting device, and integrity inspection of the shell protection; Verify whether the laser
output automatically reduces power or shuts down after the shell is damaged or the lens is removed, and verify the mechanical protection failure
protection function.
4. Fault safety protection test
Simulate abnormal working conditions such as laser drive circuit failure, line short circuit, sensor failure, etc. The equipment needs to automatically cut off
laser emission to prevent the continuous output of high-power beams under fault conditions and eliminate the risk of eye burns.
5. Detection of laser warning system
Testing the sound and light synchronization warning function when the device laser is turned on; The warning signs are printed firmly, the text symbols
comply with national standards, and can be clearly recognized from a distance; The instruction manual fully indicates the laser hazard warning content.
6. Radiation stability test under environmental conditions
Continuous power on operation in high and low temperature, humid and hot environments, monitoring laser output power fluctuations throughout the
process, and ensuring that temperature and humidity changes do not cause excessive laser radiation.
4、 Supporting auxiliary verification project (synchronous verification of certification)
Electrical Basic Safety
Insulation resistance, withstand voltage, and grounding continuity tests are conducted to prevent circuit faults from indirectly causing the laser module
to lose control.
Compliance verification of identification nameplates
The nameplate must include laser level, output power, wavelength, and danger warning, with clear and wear-resistant handwriting that cannot easily fall off.
Compliance review of user manual
The instruction manual lacks laser safety warnings, error operation protection tips, and emergency response instructions, which will directly determine the
test as unqualified and require modification and retesting.
5、 Certification testing process
Entrustment application
The enterprise shall submit a certification commission to a qualified third-party testing institution, provide a complete set of technical information, and
specify the product model and applicable standard GB/T 7247.1.
Sample delivery
Send representative prototypes and laser accessories to the laboratory, and provide different prototypes for multiple versions of the same model as needed.
Laboratory type testing
Complete all testing items for laser radiation, protective structures, fault protection, and warning systems item by item according to standards, and record
the original test data.
Unqualified rectification and retesting
When a single indicator fails to meet the standard, the enterprise shall modify the optical path, protective circuit, shell structure or instruction manual, and
resend samples for retesting until all are qualified.
Provide a testing report
After all projects are approved, the GB/T 7247.1 laser safety testing report will be issued as a valid certificate of product laser safety certification.
6、 Supervision and usage requirements after certification
Batch production consistency control
The laser light source, protective circuit, and housing structure of mass-produced products must be consistent with the submitted prototype. It is not
allowed to change the optical path power or protective components without authorization. Any changes must be retested.
Market logo usage
The product nameplate and promotional materials can indicate compliance with the GB/T 7247.1 laser safety standard, and the safety level cannot be
exaggerated. False labeling will revoke the validity of the report.
Annual supervision spot check
Regulatory authorities or testing agencies may randomly select commercially available prototypes to retest laser radiation parameters. If the retest fails,
production must be stopped for rectification.
7、 Differentiation from other supporting certifications
GB/T 7247.1 is only for laser radiation safety certification and does not cover methane measurement accuracy and explosion-proof performance:
Gas measurement accuracy: certification of relevant measurement standards for gas detectors is required;
Explosion proof factory use: additional explosion-proof certificate shall be obtained, corresponding to the standards for explosive environment equipment;
Electromagnetic compatibility and high/low temperature reliability: If the entire machine needs to be fully compliant, separate EMC and environmental
adaptability tests must be conducted.
