I. About CNAS and CMA
The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) is a national accreditation body established and authorised by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People‘s Republic of China under the “Regulations on Certification and Accreditation of the People’s Republic of China”. CNAS is responsible for the accreditation of certification bodies, laboratories, inspection bodies, and other related organisations.
With core values of “Science, Impartiality, Integrity, Responsibility” and a vision of “Social Trust, Government Acceptance, International Mutual Recognition”, CNAS‑accredited certifications are mutually recognised by many international organisations, including the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC).
CMA (China Inspection Body and Laboratory Mandatory Approval) is the mandatory approval mark for inspection and testing bodies. In accordance with the Metrology Law of the People‘s Republic of China, it is a comprehensive certification and evaluation of a testing body’s capability and reliability by the metrological administrative authorities at or above the provincial level. Only with this mark can an organisation legally operate as an inspection and testing body, perform testing and inspection activities for the items approved and listed on its certificate, and use the CMA mark on testing certificates or reports.
