Leveraging our core and differentiated strengths, we provide you with high-quality, comprehensive technology services
More
We provide professional optical product testing services (laser product safety testing and performance parameter testing, photobiological safety testing for non‑laser products), as well as energy efficiency testing services (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency testing, California CEC energy efficiency testing), among others.
If you have requirements for laser products (laser product safety testing and laser performance parameter testing) and energy efficiency testing (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency, California CEC energy efficiency, UK energy efficiency testing), please feel free to email us at: admin@ctnt-cert.com
1、 What is EU ERP registration for car refrigerators
ERP (ErP) is a common term for the EU's compliance system for the ecological design of energy related products. Car refrigerators involve two parallel obligations:
Ecological design compliance: Control energy consumption, standby power consumption, noise, and resource efficiency according to the implementation measures of refrigeration equipment
Energy efficiency label and EPREL registration: Before listing, enter the model data into the official EU database, generate A-G labels and traceability QR codes
It belongs to the energy efficiency module in the CE compliance system and is not an independent "certificate", but it cannot be legally put into the EU market without it.
2、 Applicable regulatory framework
Ecological Design: (EU) 2019/2019 (formerly known as 2019/2021, household refrigeration appliances)
Energy Efficiency Labeling Framework: (EU) 2017/1369
Refrigerator Labeling Regulations: (EU) 2019/2016
Test standards: EN 62552 (cooling/volume/EIA/noise), EN 50564 (standby and shutdown power consumption)
3、 Whether the product falls within the scope (key judgment)
Clear mandatory: car/portable refrigerator with a capacity of 10-1500L and AC mains input (built-in power supply or included AC/DC adapter)
Gray Zone: Pure 12V/24V DC input, without AC adapter. The original regulation excludes "mobile refrigeration appliances", but customs and platforms usually have strict certification. It is recommended to conduct EPREL certification before making a decision
True exemption: Industrial/medical professional refrigeration, products not primarily used for food refrigeration
4、 Core compliance actions
Send samples for EN 62552 energy efficiency testing to obtain EEI, annual power consumption, net volume, and noise
Measure standby/shutdown power consumption (shutdown ≤ 0.5W, with networking function according to corresponding limits)
Prepare technical documents: test reports BOM、 Circuit diagram, instruction manual DoC、 Oudai Information
Register with EPREL system by model, upload reports and label files on behalf of Europe
Output the new version of A-G energy efficiency label (including QR code), attach it to the body and packaging, and display it synchronously on the e-commerce page
5、 Energy efficiency level logic
Based on EEI (Energy Efficiency Index): A ≤ 25%, B 26-55%, gradually increasing to G>110%
Starting from 2021, the old A+++system will be abolished and replaced with a unified A-G system
At the same time, it is subject to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Threshold (MEPS), and if the level does not meet the standard, it cannot be sold even if it is marked
6、 Technical documents and file retention
Technical documentation should include: product description, test report, EEI calculation, label samples, product information sheet
Non EU companies must designate an EU authorized representative
The documents will be kept on file for 10 years from the last batch of products being launched, and will be subject to market supervision and spot checks
7、 Relationship with CE/WEEE
ERP is not equivalent to CE: LVD, EMC, RoHS still need to be done separately
WEEE (Recycling Registration) is a parallel obligation and does not replace energy efficiency registration
The platform (Amazon/TEMU) will also check EPREL numbers, actual photos of labels, and product information sheets
8、 Typical cycles and risks
Cycle: 5-7 working days for testing+1-3 working days for EPREL registration, approximately 2-4 weeks overall (including longer rectification)
Risk points: Pure DC self perceived exemption, inconsistency between prototype and mass production, virtual labeling of volume, only conducting testing without registration, unclear QR code on labels, no display of labels on e-commerce pages
