We provide professional optical product testing services (laser product safety testing and performance parameter testing, photobiological safety testing for non‑laser products), as well as energy efficiency testing services (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency testing, California CEC energy efficiency testing), among others.
If you have requirements for laser products (laser product safety testing and laser performance parameter testing) and energy efficiency testing (EU ErP energy efficiency testing, US DOE energy efficiency, California CEC energy efficiency, UK energy efficiency testing), please feel free to email us at: admin@ctnt-cert.com
For sellers selling juicers, blenders and other kitchen appliances on Amazon US site, the UL982 test report is an indispensable compliance requirement. In recent years, Amazon has continuously tightened safety controls over electrically powered products. Listings without valid UL reports risk being taken down, and selling privileges may be revoked.

UL982 is a safety standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), officially titled Safety Standard for Motor-Operated Household Food Preparing Machines.
The core objective of this standard is to evaluate the electrical safety, mechanical safety and material safety of products under normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse scenarios, fundamentally reducing risks of electric shock, fire and mechanical laceration for end users.
Many sellers confuse these two concepts. The distinction is clarified below:
UL Certification: Voluntary certification. It requires product testing plus factory audits, with quarterly factory inspections. It comes with higher costs and longer lead times.
UL982 Test Report: Issued after the product passes testing against the corresponding UL standard. No factory audit is required. It has relatively lower costs and shorter turnaround time, and is specially used for Amazon platform compliance review.
Simply put: Amazon requires a UL982 test report, not UL certification.
UL982 has clearly defined coverage. It applies to motor-operated household food preparing machines and kitchen accessories.
Common products requiring a UL982 report:
Electric juicers
Food blenders
Electric hand mixers
Meat grinders
Electric can openers
Electric knife sharpeners
Shared characteristics of these products: motor-driven, for household food preparation, short single usage duration, and annual cumulative operating time generally below 100 hours.
If you sell the above categories on Amazon and your product is equipped with a motor or power adapter, a UL982 report is generally a mandatory compliance document.
UL982 testing includes the main items listed below:
Operation Test: Verify product safety under normal operating conditions
Leakage Current Test: Assess insulation performance to prevent electric shock hazards
Dielectric Voltage Withstand Test: Verify insulation strength
Starting Current Test: Evaluate current surge during motor startup
Abnormal Test: Assess safety under abnormal conditions such as motor locked rotor and overload
To apply for a UL982 test report, prepare the following documents:
Test Application Form: Fully filled with company and product information
Product Technical Documents: User manual, product specification sheet and circuit diagram
Bill of Materials (BOM)/Component Data File (CDF): For the lab to verify specifications and sources of critical components
Test Samples: Typically 1 to 2 complete finished units
If your product comes with a power adapter, please submit it together to ensure the test covers the full power supply scenario.
Inquiry & Quotation: Submit basic product information to the testing laboratory. The lab confirms applicable standards and test items and provides a quotation.
Sign Contract & Send Samples: Confirm the quotation and sign the service contract. Ship samples and technical documents to the laboratory.
Laboratory Testing: Engineers conduct full testing on samples in accordance with UL982.
Draft Report Issuance: After testing completion, the lab prepares a draft report for client review.
Confirmation & Final Report Release: Once the client approves the draft content, the laboratory issues the official UL982 test report.
Amazon Submission: Upload the report to Amazon Seller Central and await platform review approval.
As a professional third-party testing laboratory, we offer the following services for Amazon UL982 test report applications:
Accreditation Assurance: CNAS and CMA accredited laboratory; reports are accepted by Amazon.
Full-Scope Testing: Complete test coverage including operation test, leakage current, dielectric voltage withstand, starting current and abnormal condition tests.
Pre-Test Service: Preliminary screening before formal submission to identify and resolve non-conformities in advance.
Non-Conformity Remediation Support: Provide targeted improvement recommendations if products fail testing.
One-Stop Full-Service: Document pre-review, sample testing and report issuance handled end-to-end.
Special Support: If you are unsure whether your kitchen appliance requires UL982 testing or what documents to prepare, send us your specification sheet. Our engineers will develop a customized testing solution for you.
